Communicating the Museum

Communicating the Museum, hosted by Agenda, is the leading international arts communication conference. The 21st edition was held in Chicago from September 24-27, 2018 and brought together 215 museum professionals from all over the world, 55 speakers, 35 keynotes, panels, and case studies at 10 cultural venues, including the Art Institute of Chicago and the Chicago History Museum.

I worked alongside one other volunteer doing socials. I took charge of instagram, and produced daily instagram stories and posts in order to boost awareness and engagement.

During this time, compared to the previous week, I grew:

  • profile visits by +169

  • reach by +174

  • impressions by +3795

Posts I made consistently performed 85-95% better than recent posts and reached 5-9% of accounts that weren’t following the account.

I was also the sole photographer for the conference. Here are some examples of photos I took for the event, shot with a Canon 5D Mark III, 24-70 mm or 16-35 mm lens. Edited in Adobe Lightroom.

Photos were regularly featured on official mailers, promotionals, and newsletters even after the conference.
